اختلال افسردگی مداوم
The previous classification of pervasive developmental disor- ders (PDD) that housed five different types of disorders (autism, Asperger's syndrome, Rett's
disorder, childhood disintegration disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder not other- wise specified) has been replaced by one category ASD that considers all disorders that meet the criteria for ASD to be "on the spectrum" and no longer recognizes the different types of disorders that were subsumed under the umbrella of PDD.
The previous version, the DSM-IV-TR (APA, 2000), recognized five disorders under the category of pervasive developmental disorders (PDD).
The disorders all shared pervasive neurological problems that had onset in childhood and persisted throughout the life span (Rett's disorder, childhood disintegration disorder, autistic disorder, Asperger's disorder [also referred to as Asperger's syndrome] and PDD NOS [not otherwise specified]).
However, there was controversy due to lack of clarity defining the boundaries of the sub- categories of PDD, and the DSM-5 decided to abandoned the subcategories in favor of a one- dimensional category, identified as autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
